Why control pressure with a pressure regulator?

Pressure regulators are extremely important to the safe running of applications that use gases and liquids under pressure. Pressure regulators are valves that work by cutting off the flow of a gas or liquid when it hits a certain pressure. They are found in many common home and industrial applications, and therefore it is important to control pressure with a pressure regulator to maintain a safe environment.

How do pressure regulators work?

A pressure regulator works by matching the flow of gas through the regulator to the demand for gas that is placed upon it, whilst maintaining a constant output pressure. If the load flow decreases, then the regulator flow must decrease also. If the load flow increases, then the regulator flow must increase in order to keep the controlled pressure from decreasing.

Why do you need to control pressure in industrial applications?

The main reason for controlling pressure in industrial applications is safety. Many industrial applications make use of dangerous gases and liquids, therefore maintaining a controlled pressure to avoid leakage or even explosion is imperative.
