Why choose a pressure regulator from Welker?

Welker has provided some of the most reliable and innovative solutions to the global oil and gas industry over the last 65 years. They’ve patented over 80 solutions for a variety of challenges within the oil and gas sector, including the IRA Automatic Insertion Probe Regulator and WelkerScope for pipeline inspection. Here, we’ll be taking a look at their pressure regulator range and explaining why a Welker regulator is a wise investment.

What is a pressure regulator?

Pressure regulators automatically cut off the flow of a gas or liquid when it reaches a certain pressure. They reduce an inlet pressure to a lower outlet pressure, which is maintained regardless of fluctuations in the inlet pressure. Pressure regulators are either direct operated or pilot operated. Direct operated models are suitable for lower set pressures, whereas pilot operated versions are better suited to a larger variation in flow rates.

Three functional elements control a pressure regulator’s function: a pressure reducing element (usually a spring-loaded poppet valve), a sensing element (generally a piston or diaphragm), and a reference force element (normally a spring). The force generated by the spring opens the valve, which applies pressure to the sensing element. This then closes the valve just enough to regulate the set pressure.

Our premium Welker regulator range

Fluid Controls provides a wide range of Welker instrument regulators. All of which are designed to provide an output pressure adequate for downstream instrumentation that cannot otherwise sustain high pressures.

Welker IR-7 Instrument Regulator

The Welker IR-7 Instrument Regulator features a cross configuration of dual inlet and outlet ports for easy design and arrangement, as well as a replaceable cartridge assembly for simple maintenance and repairs.

Welker IR-4 Instrument Regulator

The Welker IR-4 Instrument Regulator enables operators to accurately set the desired output pressure by way of a poppet that moves up under pressure, allowing a set amount of pressure to pass through the device.

Welker HR-4SS Heated Instrument Regulator

The Welker HR-4SS Heated Instrument Regulator prevents temperature and pressure drops that can compromise the product. A heater inside the device keeps the sample heated to the necessary temperature.

Welker FIR-1 Filter / Instrument Regulator

The Welker FIR-1 Filter / Instrument Regulator is specifically designed to filter and regulate an instrument pneumatic supply. This type of Welker regulator is intended for use as part of instrument packages.
