High pressure ball valves from Parker

How high pressure ball valves can benefit your application

Ball valves are easier to operate at higher pressures due to the control surface being spherical. This means less loading therefore requiring less torque to close the valve, even under extremely high flow rates. This, combined with their quarter-turn configuration, makes high pressure ball valves extremely beneficial in applications such as shut-offs or multiple source selection valves.

Parker high pressure ball valves from Fluid Controls are designed to give a reliable shut-off or switching function, with the upper and lower trunnion bearings providing increased resistance against seizure and therefore offering a longer life valve in extreme applications.

What is a ball valve?

A ball valve uses a hollow pivoting ball to control flow through it. By rotating the ball within its housing you can vary the size of the aperture, therefore the amount of flow. They are usually a quarter-turn valve, meaning that moving the actuator handle though 90 degrees will provide full flow. The valve control handle is usually set in-line with the aperture of the ball allowing for quick visual confirmation of the valve’s state.

Need a ball valve for a specialist application?

Fluid Controls stock a range of specialist parts from Parker, ball valve suppliers known globally for their quality of manufacture. Some of the specialist Parker ball valves available from Fluid Controls are outlined below:

  • MB Mini ball valves: This range have a compact, rugged design especially for control of fluids in process, power and instrumentation applications. This range of Parker ball valves has a unique one-piece seat/packing design to ensure optimum sealing characteristics alongside a superior temperature range and lifespan.
  • High pro ball valves: These Parker ball valves have been developed specifically for demanding environments such as oil, gas and process control applications. They withstand cold water pressure ratings up to 10,000 psi (689 bar), with absolute bubble tight shut off and continuous repeatable performance and leakage paths reduced to a minimum.
  • High pressure HB4 valves: These Parker high pressure ball valves employ spring loaded seats for high cycle life and low operating torques for use with pressures up to 10,000 psi (689 bar). The PEEK trunnion bearings allow for a long life-cycle, and the two-piece ball/stem provides blow-out resistance. Ideal for extreme environments, these are available from Fluid Controls, Parker ball valve suppliers.
  • MV-6 high purity ball valves: This range is manufactured from PTFE, therefore offering exceptional resistance to corrosion and a high cycle life. It is designed for use in aggressive chemical applications with full port for minimal flow restriction.
