Back pressure regulators from Veriflo

In our latest product-focused article, Fluid Controls gives you an insight into our various models of Veriflo back pressure regulators. As we are partnered with Veriflo, we can supply their entire range of high-quality Veriflo regulators.

What are back pressure regulators, and in what industries are they used?

Back pressure regulators are versatile control valves used in various industries for precise pressure control. They are essential in chemical processing to maintain stable pressures in reactors and distillation columns, enhancing safety and efficiency. In the oil and gas industry, they regulate pressure in wellheads, separators, and pipelines, optimising flow rates and protecting equipment.

Pharmaceutical manufacturing relies on these regulators for stable pressure in different drug production stages, ensuring product quality and safety.

In aerospace and aviation, back pressure regulators for liquids regulate fuel and hydraulic pressures, ensuring safe operations. Overall, back pressure regulators for liquid are invaluable tools for diverse industries, providing stability, safety, and efficiency in various applications.

How does a back pressure regulator work?

You now know what back pressure regulators are, but continue reading if you want to know how a back pressure regulator works in further detail.

A back pressure regulator is a control valve that maintains a specific pressure on the downstream side of a system while allowing excess pressure to be released when necessary.

It consists of an inlet and outlet port, along with an adjustment mechanism typically operated by a spring. The spring sets the desired pressure level on the downstream side.

Inside the back pressure regulator for liquid, there is a diaphragm or piston that responds to changes in pressure. When the outlet pressure reaches the set level, the diaphragm or piston opens the valve, allowing fluid or gas to escape, which reduces the downstream pressure.

As the outlet pressure decreases, the valve closes again to stabilise and maintain the desired pressure. This continuous adjustment ensures constant pressure on the downstream side of the system, making back pressure regulators essential for various industrial applications.

Who is Veriflo?

Veriflo is the instrumentation division of the global leader in motion and control technologies, Parker. The company has existed for 100 years and has been an engineering success in a large range of industrial and aerospace markets. Veriflo’s two key product ranges are valves and ultra-high purity gas regulators, which include Veriflo’s back pressure regulators.

Veriflo back pressure regulators

Veriflo pressure regulators are some of the most reliable in the industry. The instrumentation leaders have designed several innovative Veriflo regulators, including Veriflo back pressure regulators, which can be used in a range of different applications and systems. Fluid Controls can supply the complete range of Veriflo pressure regulators in our diverse range of products.

Some of which we can introduce you to below:

Veriflo back pressure regulators – BR-1 Series

Veriflo regulators

The BR-1 Series PTFE Veriflo back pressure regulator offers excellent resistance to corrosion and high cycle life. The valve’s non-relieving design requires a 10-psi differential across the valve, which ensures stable upstream pressure in aggressive fluid applications. Some of the benefits of this regulator include its variety of port configurations and a large diaphragm, which allows for greater sensitivity to changes downstream.

Veriflo back pressure regulators – BR-08 Series

Veriflo pressure regulators

The BR-08 Series PTFE Veriflo back pressure regulator is ideal for ultra-high purity and aggressive fluid handling systems. The regulator’s non-relieving design requires a 5-psi differential across the valve, which results in improved droop characteristics and low hysteresis. Benefits of this regulator include its modified PTFE diaphragm and stainless steel spring, which provides high cycle life and excellent corrosion resistance.

Veriflo back pressure regulator – ABP1 Series

Back pressure regulator

The ABP1 series Veriflo back pressure regulator promises precise control of not only inlet pressure but also upstream and back pressure in an instrument or analyser system. This Veriflo regulator is a must for any general applications requiring control ranges of up to 500 PSIG and superior strength. Some of the benefits of this model include multiple seat materials, as well as an integral diaphragm stop which provides an additional safety measure.
